There is two main ways to add color to vector images. The ways are stroke and fill. Adding a stroke will put an outline on the image in the color you desire. Fill is the color inside the image. There is three color types with two sub-types for gradient. The first color type is solid color. Solid color is color from the color picker. The second type is gradient. Gradient is a range of color. The sub-types are linear and radial. Linear is based on the position along a line. Radial is based on the position within a circle. A pattern is vectors in a specific order.

Vector graphics primarily work in 2D. The benefits of vector graphics is the lines are smooth, they are resolution independent, you can change them in a lot of ways without making the quality worse, they have smaller file sizes than bitmap graphics, the background is transparent and they can be easily converted to bitmap formats. There is two disadvantages. The disadvantages are they are not typically used for photorealistic images and they are not globally usable.
